Well, I moved to California. The adventure getting here rocked my socks and added about 3,000 miles to my now "butterfly free" Mazda Protege. After a month in commute hell, Pete and I moved to Larkspur. Specifically we live in the Skylark Heights Apartments. My commute is less than thirty minutes and we enjoy the peace and quiet of this hilltop apartment complex.
With Pete having his own adventure on the island for the next 2 weeks and the blessing of starting work at 11AM this past Tuesday, I took my first jog into King Mountain. I had less than an hour, but the jaunt up this lovely trail, which we can access from the apartment's parking lot, was fantastic! Birds were chirping away and after the fire road ended, the trail had nice shade cover. I looks forward to tomorrow's longer adventure if I can get out of bed earlier!
I worked late tonight to observe TEEM. It is an amazing youth development program at NatureBridge, inwhich high school students get to learn how to be environmental outdoor educators. This group is full of heart and energy. I look forward to more opportunities to watch them grow as educators and as a community. It also gets me excited for Coastal Camp when I will get my own groups of counselors to teach and learn from. Life is good, but I do miss the Minnesota leaves a changing!
