I have been feeling a bit run-down and lacking energy lately and would like to share some of the things I have used to remedy it. My first attempt was to re-introduce yoga and pilates practice into my daily routine. I came to California armed with my Yoga Booty Ballet DVD. Additionally, I had memorized some winsor pilates routines. Both of these are helpful, but I also sought out deeper yoga poses. I found a good youtube full-length Hatha Yoga video (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tklllKHDkIE)that is great for long deep poses. If you are looking for fast paced yoga-pilates fushion with the encouragement of a workout guru try Denise Austin's Power Yoga. I do about 30 minutes to one hour of practice every day.
I have tried to add running to my fitness routine. I did one to three miles every other day for two weeks. It felt good, but I have not been motivated to run lately. Additionally I have tried biking, but was put-off initially by the ups and downs and lack of a decent bike for road-biking.
For the past three days I have added green smoothies to my diet (mostly using kale, chard, and spinach with a small amount of fruit). These are a great instant energy boost. I have reduced my sugar intake and try to limit my dessert to dark chocolate or coconut bliss ice-cream. My stomach and I can really feel the negative effects when I eat sugary foods. For example, I get an instant burst of energy, but then feel exhausted unless I continue to eat them.
Now for my allergies, I do not have this under-control yet. I quit taking loratadine. I do not feel any different and think it was in-effective. I bought a neti-pot and used it today. I feel a little clearer in the nasal passages, but not in the deep sinus cavities. I am going to begin eliminating foods that could cause allergens and determine if it could be food related. I have had trouble with my sinuses for over 10 years. I am going to get to the bottom of what is going on with them, and I accept that it may take awhile!
I will keep you all posted on how things are going. If you want to throw out health tips of any feedback your comments are welcome.
